Whatsapp To Let Users Message Without Their Phones

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will let people message without using their phone for the first time. At present, WhatsApp is linked to a user’s phone. Its desktop and web apps need that device to be connected and receiving messages. But the new feature will let users send and receive messages “even if your phone battery is dead”. Up to four other devices – like PCs and tablets – can be used together, WhatsApp said. To begin with, the new feature will be rolled out as a beta test for a “small group of users”, and the team plans to improve performance and add features before enabling it for everyone. End-to-end encryption – a key selling point for WhatsApp – will still work under this new system, it said. • Party asks lawmaker to quit, defector cites Buhari’s policies for decision The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Senator Ishaku Abbo (Adamawa North) to vacate his seat in the Senate following his defection, yesterday, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said the lawmaker “should be aware of the provision of the Constitution which made it compulsory for any member of the National Assembly who defected to another party to immediately vacate his seat.” According to him, the main opposition is not fazed by Abbo’s decision. “Abbo is fully aware of the constitutional implication of his decision to defect to another party, which is that he cannot continue to occupy the seat of the PDP in the Senate,” he clarified. A Woman In Her 30s Alights From Cab, Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon

A woman said to be in her thirties has decided to end it all by jumping into the lagoon on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State. We confirmed that the woman had disembarked from a cab and headed towards the railing of the bridge. She was said to have consequently plunged into the water. The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a situation report said a search and rescue team had been mobilised to look for the woman.
