PDP kicks as Senator Abbo defects to APC

  •  Party asks lawmaker to quit, defector cites Buhari’s policies for decision The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Senator Ishaku Abbo (Adamawa North) to vacate his seat in the Senate following his defection, yesterday, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said the lawmaker “should be aware of the provision of the Constitution which made it compulsory for any member of the National Assembly who defected to another party to immediately vacate his seat.” According to him, the main opposition is not fazed by Abbo’s decision. “Abbo is fully aware of the constitutional implication of his decision to defect to another party, which is that he cannot continue to occupy the seat of the PDP in the Senate,” he clarified. Rivers law maker reveals that Niger Delta Governors Squandered N10 Trillion Derivation Fund

  He said over N10 trillion accrued to the Niger Delta region through 13% derivation in 18 years, but that regrettably, infrastructure was still waiting for attention in the region.   Hon. Farah Dagogo, a member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has lamented that Niger Delta governors see the 13 percent derivation oil money as free cash, Daily Post reports. In an interview with journalists in Abuja, he said the story of oil producing communities in Niger Delta region is a sad one, given that the 13 percent derivation which is the fund set aside to assist oil-producing communities tackle infrastructural decay and degradation, is diverted. Delta State government threatens to execute killers of protective Animals

The Delta State Government has threatened to arrest and prosecute anyone caught hunting protective animals within the state in line with the laws of the land. Commissioner of Information, Charles Aniagwu, who gave the warning in a statement yesterday maintained that anybody caught killing such animals would be jailed, as the state could not continue to watch people destroy its ecosystem out of ignorance. Rather than kill such animals, Aniagwu advised citizens to help them return to their natural habitats where necessary. ASUU- Indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, has threatened strike action if the October salary of its members is not paid by the Federal Government. ASUU recently announced the rejection of the Integrated Payment Personnel Information System (IPPIS) which they claim is being forced on them by the Federal Government. The IPPIS is mandated by the FG to see to the payment of salaries of all workers. The FG also warned that any worker not captured by IPPIS will not be paid. Reacting to the development, Ade Adejumo, ASUU coordinator, Ibadan zone, who spoke to journalists on Sunday stated that it is designed to suppress the masses.
